Users, Roles and Data Access Sets

Oracle Fusion Cloud

Demo

Roles

Roles grant access to a specific user for specific menus and screens.

For example: The role “General Accounting Manager” will grant access to the screen “Create Journals”. However without any data access, the user will not be allowed to create journal for any Ledger.

Roles are added through Security Console. Role “IT Security Manager” is required for accessing Security Console

Data Access Sets

Data Access Sets grant access to specific data objects. This access is granted to a combination or User, role, Security Context

For example: Lets say user John.Doe wants to create a journal for US Primary Ledger. You will need General Ledger Roles which grant access to the create journal menu. In addition to the role, you will need data access for the following combination:

  1. User: John.Doe
  2. Role: General Accounting Manager
  3. Security Context: Data Access Set
  4. Security Context Value: US Primary Ledger.
